Located at Smith Creek Park, this calm lake is perfect for beginners. With flat, wave-free water and a peaceful setting, it’s an easy, relaxing place to paddle, especially at sunset. There’s also a kids playground nearby, and while parking is free, it can be limited.

Located at River Road Park, this launch gives you direct access to the Cape Fear River. Expect gentle current with some tidal movement, making it a great step up from flatwater while still beginner-friendly on calm days.
Paddle out to nearby islands like Shark Tooth Island for a fun, scenic experience. The park has free parking and restrooms, but space can be limited, especially on busy days.
